Multi Cloud vs Hybrid Cloud (Differentiation)

While differentiating these two term (Multi and Hybrid Cloud) the main problem arises is that these can utilized exchangeable. We will discuss these two cloud separately but in short Hybrid cloud consists a private cloud having same functions where as Multi cloud always consist many public cloud services having different functions. These both cloud approaches to cloud computing but they plays an important roles in management and deployment models.  Now we will discuss multi and hybrid cloud in broad .

What is Multi-Cloud?

As the name suggests, “multi” means many. Therefore, when an organization utilizes a multitude of cloud computing platforms from various cloud providers to meet the technical and business requirements of the IT organization, it is termed as multi-cloud. In other words, when an organization leverages services from multiple cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure, IBM Cloud, AWS (Amazon Web Services), GCP (Google Cloud Platform), and more, a specific cloud provides distinct services when integrated with multiple cloud platforms. To achieve a company’s objectives, a multi-cloud strategy may encompass hybrid cloud, public cloud, and private cloud. Multi-cloud employs various architectures to meet business goals, including SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) and IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service).

Benefit Of Multi-Cloud

When you are using multi cloud platform or a techniques, you can find some advantages while using it and these are as follow:

What is Hybrid Cloud?

Hybrid cloud is a combination of both public and private cloud services, such as Microsoft Azure or AWS (Amazon Web Services) and IBM Cloud, that allows applications and data to seamlessly communicate between them. Bridging the gap between public and private clouds, as well as on-premises infrastructure and third-party cloud service providers, is essential to achieve cost optimization and create a unified and flexible IT infrastructure. It’s important to note that hybrid cloud differs from a multi-cloud platform.

Hybrid cloud is widely favored among organizations because it strikes a balance between the cost benefits and scalability of public cloud while maintaining the security of the private cloud. This approach enables organizations to harness the advantages of both public and private clouds.

Benefit Of Hybrid Cloud

Cost Optimization: It permit the organization to optimize the cost as well decrease the optimize resource utilization, operational expenses and achieve cost savings compared to solely relying on either on-premises or public cloud resources.

Flexibility & Scalability: It provides the organization with all the flexibility to deploy workloads across on-premises infrastructure and public cloud. It also permit the organization to leveraging the elasticity of the public cloud for variable workloads while maintaining control over sensitive data or difficult workloads on premises.

Hybrid Cloud Model

As we already discuss about these two cloud, now in the below image we will see the Hybrid cloud model

Use Cases of Hybrid Cloud

Many organizations adopt hybrid cloud because it fulfills the fundamental requirements of both the business and IT industries, combining the best of the public and private cloud worlds. Here is a list of hybrid cloud use cases:

  1. Data Backup and Disaster Recovery (DR): One of the critical use cases of hybrid cloud involves securely storing and backing up data and applications in a private cloud for security purposes. Additionally, it leverages the public cloud for disaster recovery solutions, cost-effective backups, and ensures business continuity by regularly replicating data to the public cloud.

  1. Development and Testing: This use case streamlines the development and testing processes by quickly allocating resources from the public cloud. Once applications are ready for production, they can be seamlessly transferred to the private cloud, ensuring data security.

  1. Cost Optimization: Hybrid cloud strategies can reduce costs by scaling down resources in the public cloud during off-peak periods.

  1. AI & Machine Learning: Utilizing the public cloud for machine learning training, leveraging abundant resources, and processing real-time data, organizations can deploy machine learning models in the public cloud.

  1. Content Delivery: To enhance security, private clouds are employed to capture and manage content. Content is then distributed globally using a CDN (Content Delivery Network).

S.No. Multi-Cloud Hybrid Cloud
01. Users get the high availability in multi cloud. Hybrid cloud is also maintain the availability for every time (24/7).
02. Facilitates Vendor migration In hybrid cloud it is very difficult to shift to a new vendor.
03. There are different clouds that regulate the tasks individual. Public and private cloud worked together.
04. Here the user data is secure in public cloud. Here the user data is secure in both public & private cloud.
05. It is a concept and combination of both private & and public cloud. Similar as multi-cloud hybrid cloud is a combination of public and private cloud.
06. Here the data will be share between clouds . It’s data can be shared between clouds.
07. It is difficult to implement the security in multi cloud. Easy to implement the security.
08. Always utilized the public cloud. Here the public cloud is used as per the requirement.

Conclusion: In this above blog article, we have differentiate these two cloud (Hybrid and Multi Cloud ).

Hybrid cloud is widely favored among organizations because it strikes a balance between the cost benefits and scalability of public cloud while maintaining the security of the private cloud. This approach enables organizations to harness the advantages of both public and private clouds. As the name suggests, “multi” means many. Therefore, when an organization utilizes a multitude of cloud computing platforms from various cloud providers to meet the technical and business requirements of the IT organization, it is termed as multi-cloud.
